Hello Everyone! Hope you all are doing amazing and welcome to another #Splinterlands post.
Alright, time for another #Splinterlands card spotlight.
Today I'm looking at a card that honestly surprised me a little bit.
The card is, Emberscale Invoker.
It's a Common Fire unit, and at max level it has 4 different abilities.
Yeah, FOUR abilities on a common card.
When I first looked at it, I was like okay this is probably just another ranged/magic support type card.
But after looking at the abilities properly, this thing actually has a LOT going on.
So let's talk about it.
At max level, Emberscale Invoker has:
Mana Cost: 7
Attack: 3
Health: 6
Armor: 4
Speed: 4
The mana cost of 7 isn't exactly cheap, but the stats are pretty decent.
It has enough armor to survive some physical attacks, 6 health isn't bad, and 4 speed gives it a decent chance of going early.
But the stats aren't even the most interesting thing about this card.
It's the abilities.
And there are four of them.
Snipe: Magic and ranged attacks target the first non-melee enemy unit behind the first position.
The first ability is Snipe.
With Snipe, Emberscale Invoker targets the first non-melee enemy unit behind the first position with its magic or ranged attack.
I really like this ability because it gives you a way to attack the units hiding behind the main tank.
Sometimes the enemy puts a tank in front and then has a support monster sitting safely behind it.
Snipe basically says:
"Yeah, I'm not attacking your tank."
Instead, it starts putting pressure on those backline units.
That can be really useful against teams that depend heavily on support monsters.
Enrage: +50% melee power and speed if not at full health.
This is where things get a little crazy.
Emberscale Invoker has Enrage.
If the unit isn't at full health, it gets:
+50% melee power and +50% speed.
Now obviously, the melee power part isn't as useful if you're mainly using the card for its other attacks.
But the speed increase?
That can be very interesting.
Once Emberscale Invoker takes some damage, it becomes faster.
So instead of getting weaker after being hit, it can actually become more dangerous.
I always like abilities that change how a card behaves during the battle.
Phase: Magic attacks have the same chance to miss as physical attacks.
The third ability is Phase.
Phase gives magic attacks the same chance to miss as physical attacks.
And this is honestly a really useful defensive ability.
Magic attacks normally have a reputation for being difficult to avoid.
But with Phase, Emberscale Invoker gets a chance to dodge those attacks.
Combine that with its 4 speed, and suddenly your opponent's magic attackers might have a much harder time hitting it.
This also makes the card more interesting in battles where the opponent is relying heavily on magic damage.
Ambush: Takes an extra turn prior to the first round of battle.
And finally, we have Ambush.
This one is probably the most interesting ability on the entire card.
Ambush allows Emberscale Invoker to take an extra turn before the first round of battle.
So basically, the fight hasn't even properly started yet and this card can already take action.
That's pretty crazy when you think about it.
Getting an early attack can sometimes completely change a battle.
If you manage to damage or eliminate an important enemy support unit before the normal rounds even begin, you can start the battle with a huge advantage.
Personally, I think Emberscale Invoker works best as a flexible damage/support card.
I wouldn't necessarily put it in the front.
Instead, I'd probably place it somewhere behind a solid tank where it can safely use Snipe.
The goal would be to attack important backline targets while taking advantage of Phase and Ambush.
And if it gets damaged?
Well, Enrage can make it even faster.
So there are multiple ways for this card to contribute.
There are honestly quite a few things I like here.
Snipe lets it attack important backline targets.
Phase gives protection against Magic.
Ambush provides an extra turn before the battle.
Enrage can increase its speed after taking damage.
4 speed is already pretty decent.
4 armor gives it some extra survivability.
It's only a Common card.
That's a LOT of utility for one card.
Of course, it isn't perfect.
The biggest problem for me is probably the 7 mana cost.
It's not something you can just throw into every low mana battle.
Also, 6 health isn't exactly massive.
If the opponent focuses on it, it can still disappear pretty quickly.
And while Enrage sounds amazing, the melee power bonus isn't as useful depending on how you're using the card.
So you need the right ruleset and lineup.
One thing I especially like about this card is the combination of Ambush and Snipe.
Imagine starting the battle with an extra attack against an important enemy backline unit.
That's potentially a huge advantage.
Instead of waiting several rounds before your Snipe attacker starts doing its job, Emberscale Invoker can start causing problems immediately.
And if it survives long enough, it can keep putting pressure on those non-melee targets.
That's the kind of thing that can make an opponent's entire strategy fall apart.
After looking at this card properly, I honestly think Emberscale Invoker is pretty underrated.
It's not just a simple damage dealer.
It has:
Snipe.
Enrage.
Phase.
Ambush.
Four abilities that all give it something different.
And that's what I like about it.
You can use it for offensive pressure, backline targeting, magic defense and even getting an early attack before the battle properly starts.
The 7 mana cost does hold it back a little bit, but when the ruleset gives you enough mana to use it, I think it's definitely worth considering.
It's also one of those cards that makes me want to experiment with different lineups instead of just using the same team every time.
And honestly, that's one of the best things about #Splinterlands.
You can look at a card and think it's nothing special, then you actually use it and realize:
"Wait... this thing is actually pretty good."
Anyway thats it for todayโs #Splinterlands grind. Please do give your reviews in the comments section below. I would really appreciate it :)
I'll be back with another one soon. So do follow me if you want to stay updated. Till then, Stay Happy and Stay Hydrated.
