Hello Everyone! Hope you all are doing great and welcome to another #Splinterlands post.
Alright, time for another #Splinterlands card spotlight.
Today I'm looking at a card that honestly looks pretty simple at first.
Nothing crazy.
Nothing super flashy.
But after looking at what it can actually do, I think Bristleborn Brigand can be pretty useful in the right lineup.
So the card I'm talking about today is, Bristleborn Brigand.
It is a Common Death unit, and at max level it has 2 abilities:
Snipe
Demoralize
And honestly, I really like this combination because one ability helps you attack the enemy backline, while the other makes the enemy's melee attacks weaker.
Pretty simple, but sometimes simple is good.
The first thing I noticed about Bristleborn Brigand is that it's only 2 mana.
That's pretty cheap.
And whenever I see a low mana card with useful abilities, I immediately start thinking about where I could squeeze it into different teams.
At max level, this card has:
2 Mana
2 Ranged Attack
6 Health
2 Armor
3 Speed
And honestly, for just 2 mana?
That's not bad at all.
The 6 health especially caught my attention.
Usually when you're spending only 2 mana, you expect the card to be very fragile.
But Bristleborn Brigand actually has enough health to survive a few hits.
It also has 2 armor, which gives it a little extra protection.
So already, I'm thinking this could be a pretty annoying little card.
Snipe: Magic and ranged attacks target the first non-melee enemy unit behind the first position.
The first ability is Snipe.
Snipe means magic and ranged attacks target the first non-melee enemy unit behind the first position.
And this is where Bristleborn Brigand starts becoming more interesting.
Instead of attacking the enemy tank, it can target one of those annoying ranged or magic units sitting behind the frontline.
And we all know how annoying those backline units can be.
Sometimes the enemy tank isn't actually the biggest problem.
The real problem is the healer.
Or the magic attacker.
Or some support unit sitting safely in the second or third position.
Snipe gives Bristleborn Brigand a way to attack those units.
And with 3 speed, it has a decent chance of getting its attack in without always being one of the last units to move.
Demoralize: -1 melee power to all enemy units.
Now we get to the second ability.
Demoralize.
This ability reduces the melee power of all enemy units by 1.
And this is actually a really useful defensive ability.
Think about it.
You're spending only 2 mana, and this one card is potentially reducing the melee damage of the entire enemy team.
That's pretty good value.
If the opponent is using a heavy melee lineup, Demoralize can make a noticeable difference.
Instead of every enemy melee attacker hitting you for their normal damage, they're all getting reduced by 1.
One point might not sound like much.
But when multiple enemy monsters are attacking every round, that damage reduction can really add up.
Especially in longer battles.
This is probably the thing I like most about Bristleborn Brigand.
Its two abilities do completely different things.
Snipe = offensive pressure
Demoralize = defensive support
So while Bristleborn is attacking the enemy's backline, it's also weakening their melee attackers.
That's a pretty nice combination for such a cheap card.
It's not just sitting there doing one job.
It's contributing to the battle in two different ways.
And that's why I think low-mana utility cards can sometimes be more valuable than they look.
Personally, I think Bristleborn Brigand could be really useful in battles where:
You have a low mana cap.
The opponent is using lots of melee units.
You want to attack backline support units.
You need some extra ranged damage.
You want to squeeze another useful card into your lineup.
The 2 mana cost is probably the biggest advantage here.
You don't need to build your entire strategy around it.
You can just add it into a lineup when you have a couple mana left.
And instead of wasting those 2 mana, you get a ranged attacker AND Demoralize.
Not bad.
I wouldn't put Bristleborn Brigand in the first position.
That's not really what it's made for.
I'd rather put a proper tank in front and let Bristleborn stay somewhere in the back.
That way, it can keep attacking with Snipe while your frontline absorbs the damage.
And because it has 6 health and 2 armor, it's not completely helpless if something manages to reach it.
You can also pair it with other cards that benefit from a slower, defensive strategy.
If the enemy is relying heavily on melee attacks, Demoralize becomes even more useful.
Only 2 mana
Has Snipe
Has Demoralize
6 health is pretty good for the cost
2 armor gives it extra survivability
3 speed is decent
Can attack enemy support units
Provides team-wide defensive value
The biggest thing for me is definitely the mana efficiency.
A card doesn't always need crazy stats to be useful.
Sometimes you just need a cheap card that does several useful things.
And Bristleborn Brigand does exactly that.
Of course, it isn't perfect.
The biggest issue is that 2 ranged attack isn't exactly huge.
It's useful, but don't expect Bristleborn to completely destroy the enemy team by itself.
Also, Snipe isn't always going to target the unit you really want.
Sometimes the lowest-health unit or another support card might be more important.
And if the opponent isn't using many melee attackers, Demoralize becomes less valuable.
So there are definitely situations where this card won't be doing as much.
But that's normal for a utility card.
One thing I've been noticing more and more while playing #Splinterlands is that low-mana cards can be REALLY important.
Especially when the mana cap doesn't give you enough room for a full expensive lineup.
You might have 2 mana left over after building your team.
What do you do with it?
Well, Bristleborn Brigand is one option.
And instead of just adding some random card, you get:
Ranged damage + Snipe + Demoralize.
That's actually pretty solid value.
After looking at Bristleborn Brigand more closely, I think this is one of those cards that can easily get ignored because of its low mana cost.
You see 2 mana and think:
"Yeah, probably not that important."
But then you look at the abilities.
Snipe.
Demoralize.
And suddenly it makes more sense.
It's not supposed to be the main damage dealer.
It's not supposed to be your tank.
It's more like a little utility card that quietly does its job in the background.
It attacks the enemy's backline, it reduces the melee power of the entire enemy team, and it only costs 2 mana.
That's honestly pretty nice.
I especially like using cards like this when I have a little bit of mana left and don't know what else to add.
Sometimes that tiny extra card can actually make a difference between winning and losing.
And Bristleborn Brigand definitely has that kind of potential.
Anyway thats it for todayโs #Splinterlands grind. Please do give your reviews in the comments section below. I would really appreciate it :)
I'll be back with another one soon. So do follow me if you want to stay updated. Till then, Stay Happy and Stay Hydrated.
