Of all the virtues, humility can be considered one of the most difficult to achieve. But it is worth doing all the effort to get it.Here I leave some steps to achieve it:
- Try to discover the best of each one:
Every human being has had experiences that you have not had, and in those aspects you excel.
- Sincerely praise others:
How can you dismiss a person who is being told what is admired about them? The more the good qualities of those around you are mentioned, the more virtues will be discovered in them, and it will be more difficult for one to fall into the trap of egocentricity.
- Do not delay in admitting your mistakes:
They say that the most difficult phrase to pronounce in any language is: "I was wrong". Those who refuse to do it out of pride often fall back into the same mistakes.
- Be the first to apologize after a discussion:
If the most difficult phrase to pronounce is: "I was wrong", the next most difficult must be: "Forgive me." That simple word kills pride.
- Serve others:
Offer to help the elderly, the sick and children, or to provide some other community service. You will benefit, because apart from acquiring humility, you will earn the gratitude and affection of many people.
- Recognize to God the merit of any quality you have and of all the good things that you help him do:
It is important to open the eyes of the soul and consider that we do not have anything of ours that we should glory. The only thing we really have is sin and weakness. The gifts of nature and grace that are in us, only deserve to be grateful to God, who has given it to us when he has thought of us when he created us.
