We will continue the series called "Canadian Wildlife".
The Royal Canadian Mint is known by its high quality work and the enormous number of commemorative coins issued each year. Among these commemoratives we find many, individual or in series, under the theme "wildlife".
Canada, with its vast lands and seas, is the home of a varied fauna and that will be showed in this series.
I will try to post land animals, sea animals and birds, in that order.
The tenth is a 2014 CAD $8 "Arctic Fox".
In 2013 the Royal Canadian Mint decided to create the "Canadian Wildlife" series. It would last five years, with one $8 coin minted each year.
Each coins weights 46.65g with Bullion finish and 99.99% silver purity. The mintage was not available. The issue price was bullion value.
The reverse shows the "Arctic Fox". The Arctic fox (Vulpes lagopus), also known as the white fox, polar fox, or snow fox, is a small fox native to the Arctic regions of the Northern Hemisphere and common throughout the Arctic tundra biome. It is well adapted to living in cold environments, and is best known for its thick, warm fur that is also used as camouflage.
The reverse was designed by Maurice Gervais and engraved by Konrad Wachelko.
