Today I will show a 2000 $20 from Liberia, commemorating the Apollo XIII mission to the moon.
Apollo XIII was the seventh crewed mission in the Apollo space program and the third intended to land on the Moon.
The spaceship was launched from Kennedy Space Center on April 11, 1970, but the mission was aborted after an oxygen tank in the service module exploded on April 14, 1970.
The ship instead looped around the Moon and returned safely to Earth on April 17, 1970.
The mission was commanded by Jim Lovell with Jack Swigert as command module pilot and Fred Haise as lunar module pilot.
The coin weights 20g with 99.9% silver purity and Proof finishing.
The reverse of the coin shows the three astronauts (wearing caps) and a fourth unidentified person. On the background we see the Apollo XIII main module.
The scratches are on the capsule, not on the coin.
The obverse shows Liberia's coat-of-arms.
