I am the largest terrestrial carnivore in the world.
Scientists have placed me in the marine mammal group because I live primarily on the frozen sea ice and feed almost exclusively on the seals that swim below it.
While I may feed on a variety of seal species as well as belugas or narwhals, ringed seals are by far my favorite.
Men have long admired my hunting skills: the ways I stalk my prey, lie motionless by a breathing hole or imitate an ice floe are similar to techniques they might use themselves.
I am the Polar Bear.
In 2010-2011 the Royal Canadian Mint issued a series of four square coins called "Canada's Wildlife Conservation Series".
I will show you now the second of these coins: "Polar Bear".
It is a $3 CAD weighting 11.1g (0.357oz) with 92.5% silver purity, Specimen finish and Gold Plated.
Its mintage was 8,544 units and the issue price was $59.95 CAD.
The obverse shows the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, designed by Susanna Blunt.
