Dear whoever is reading this, hæ! That is (surprisingly) Icelandic for "hi". This is my first post on this platform so naturally, I would like to introduce myself to you, fellow Steemians.
My name is Romy and I'm a Dutch 20 year old currently living in Reykjavík, Iceland. I'm actually going home in less than two weeks but there will be enough writing about Iceland on here... soon!
Anyway, I am a Literary Studies (Literary and Cultural Analysis) student at the University of Amsterdam and currently studying Icelandic & Comparative Cultural Studies at Háskóli Íslands (University of Iceland) for one semester. However, in less than two weeks I will be flying home for Christmas. In January, I plan on moving to Rotterdam (The Netherlands) for an internship.
I'm a writer, editor, intersectional feminist and literary scholar to be.
This is me being extremely happy about the colour coordinated books in an adorable messy bookshop in Reykjavík. Today I actually bought a copy of J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan for only 3 dollars here, great day.
On top of that I'm a huge metalcore enthusiast and I band managed a Dutch metalcore band for two years. This is their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/NDVRBand/, and they actually released their first single today! It's called "Divided" and here's the YouTube link if you think you can handle some metalcore:
Some other random facts about me that might be interesting to some of you:
As you can probably tell from this miserable blog post, I'm not very good at talking about myself. But, I'm sure a lot of you have experienced this problem. On this blog, however, I will most likely reflect on my past experiences (Iceland!), post some of my writing and explore all kinds of different ways to express myself. And, of course, feel free to ask anything I've failed to include in this #introduceyourself post.
Takk, bæ bæ!
