Over the weekend, my little girl suddenly had a fever. Not sure how that happened, I just noticed in the middle of the night that she was scorching hot. Pretty much my entire Sunday to Monday night was spent attending to her. She tends to be very clingy when she's not feeling well. I can sneak out for a few minutes just to prepare our meals but almost all the times she was feeling sick, all she said was "I want Nanay, please." I sometimes feel like I am a superhero whose power is the healing touch and the healing kiss. Whenever she has even the tiniest booboos, she would just say I have to kiss it so it will be better.

During the entire time, I can't help but worry. These past months have been really trying and with the pandemic all over the world, situations like this really ignite the paranoid in me. I know all I have to do is to observe her symptoms and see if there's anything alarming during the entire ordeal and that I should remain calm and collected. A simple case of fevers make me really paranoid. I'm glad though that come Tuesday she's up and about and has returned to her normal self - chatty, silly, and really really active.

Now that my worries are out of the way, I now have to face all the other chores that I put aside the past few days. Yeah, hello Mount Dirty Clothes. I thought, no problem, I'll just shove them into the automatic wash, press a few buttons and then that's done. Lo and behold! Our xx years old washer decided to have a sick leave too. I already have a full load in the wash so since it just refused to work as normal, I had to manually wash everything I shoved in there. This puts me off my chores list for the day and for the following days. After being a housewife for more than 2 years already, I have established a system that I methodically follow just so I do not get left behind when it comes to the important tasks around the house. Multitasking is very important to me. And so one machine helping me with the tasks is somewhat annoying. But, no time to waste, got to roll with the punches.

I'm thankful that my mother taught me how to properly wash clothes by hand. I have been washing my clothes by hand until my husband and I decided to live together. He somehow made me a princess so he took our dirty clothes to the laundry shop until he bought me my washing machine. To be honest, I have gotten used to the automatic washer but I missed washing clothes by hand so I am excited to wash our clothes by hand. In order to avoid piling a mountain of laundry, I am washing our dirty clothes daily. I thought to myself, I'd rather sacrifice less than an hour every day to wash our clothes by hand than allocate at least 3 hours of washing on one single day for that task. Aside from the fact that my daughter does not want to be separated from me for too long, prolonged hours of working on just one position when washing clothes really hurt my back.

And speaking of hurt, I have been working on my niece's gown for the whole month. Because of prolonged crocheting, my fingers felt really painful, I needed to plaster Salonpas on each finger. Of course, I don't have the luxury of time anymore for the dress so I had to push through with working on it. Blame it on procrastination last year but mostly on the failed attempt I made for the skirt. I don't really mind the pains on my finger, I am enjoying what I am doing and I am excited to see the finished product. I am almost done by the way, I'm just working on the finishing touches. I can confidently say that this project is now 75-80% done.

I thought by today, I am off the hook. I can finally enjoy just sitting around, recovering from all the chaos in the house but I had to go out to help out my sister in law. Her baby got sick too, almost simultaneously with my daughter. We still haven't found out the reason why, but with what I saw today, I think she's feeling a lot better. No, I'm not a doctor, nor do I have any nursing background. I know my sister in law already knows what to do but she just needs to feel like she has someone behind her. She's a working mom, has 2 kids, and I know she's feeling a little overwhelmed. She just started her work and I know she just hasn't found her groove yet. When I got to her house, I immediately just helped out around, clean up the mess, check on her firstborn, see if all his modules are done, took the baby off her father's hand so he can have some much-needed rest. They are a young couple blessed with two beautiful children and I can see that can be really overwhelming to both of them.

When I got home, I find my husband tucked up in bed, and complaining he's not feeling very well. I promise, we are a family that is really conscious about what we eat and we try our best to have enough exercise and sun. But sometimes life just likes to throw stuff at us and see how we will roll with it.

This post seemed to be nothing but a mere rant but I just want to give myself a pat on the back for rolling with all the punches for this week. At some point, I felt like I am in a competition where I am faced with challenges after challenges and that I am to be judged at the end of the week on how I fared on all the challenges. IRL, I know I did well. I rolled with the punches and came out after every challenge with flying colors. But almost all my online commitments have been put to the side. For that, I sincerely apologize. I guess right now, I just need some rest. Tonight I will sleep, and tomorrow is another challenge. I will wear my hand wraps again and start rolling with the punches again.
