Descriptive Notation From "The Book of Chess"

It always appropriate to begin any discussion about chess with a little history and something about its alleged greatest players. However today I want to do things a little different. Because it has come to my attention that I have been playing this game of chess for over a half of century(51+years) and I deserve to talk about first what ever part of chess I choose.

If this make me sound like an old man its true to one extent but truly I am a very young man! Now the concepts and technicalities of playing a strong or winning game of chess have not changes over the years. However one thing that has change is the standard or most used chess Notation.

Call me old and sentimental if you like
but I miss the old descriptive chess notation:

An image from different angles or directions sometime appear to be a different image. However the two images below are the same in my mine from any direction:

I don’t recall if the most use standard chess notation changed quickly or over a period of time. While there is nothing wrong or bad about the new algebra notation, it has been a world of different for me as with the descriptive notation I mentally see the images and the moves on the chess board.

The descriptive chess notation have had a very big influence on my playing chess blindfold and my chess litigation with other chess players. Topics that I will cover in other chapters.

I will always continue to play chess but my chess journey will be mostly completed when my “Book of Chess” is written, edited, completed and published. In the mean time there will be excerpts from most of the chapters.
