RDS Business Model Creation Planning

Stage one (4)

THINK BIG

Conceptualization of an idea is a skill that requires vision…that vision should be imagined in the mind, created as though it is already existing in reality. Through various centuries old methods, RDS builds an idea into reality. Ideas, designs, assessments are employed and then a 3D model is created for planning, construction, needed tools, processes, and people to fulfill the concept.

The end must be thought of first, IE. the biggest business one can imagine lasting 100 years or more. From that perspective, all the needed models are preplanned and put into the model thus all possibilities are already though of before laying the first brick. One can then proceed to build the first business and know where it can and will go with the guidance from the map. After all, if you travel with no map you may become lost.

The steps simplified are: Imagination of the idea: What will is see, feel, hear, smell, and taste at this location? Then the potential concept can be manifested into a true reality if certain criteria are met.

Is the location fixed already or can it be chosen?

Who is involved from the start?

How much time and money are you willing to invest?

Can the idea be formalized with the resources available?

What will the business be like in 100 years or more?

The elements that are then considered are:

Planning
Construction
Needed tools
Process
People
Location
Floor plan
POS system
Organizational Structure

After analyzing the requirements, expectations and resources, key external suppliers, contractors or internal (do it your self) roles are planned and contracted. Materials and tools are decided on and sourced. The operation must find the experts to fulfill the theme of the operation. KISS Keep it Simple and Sweet is the objective to reduce cost and improve flow of business.

Stage two (3)

MAPS

COPs (Corporate Operating Policies and Structure) and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) creation are guides and tools for controlling the operations, no matter the size of the business. They are the map that give controls, possibilities of growth, and maximize ROI. A house with no foundation is not a stable structure and will collapse at anytime. Each new business must have a plan of operations, regardless of the type, size, investment and number of staff to blossom into the best possible creation from the money invested. After the concept has been approved and implemented into reality the COPs and SOPs are formulated to build the foundation of business for that specific operation. A map for Nanjing will not work in Shanghai and thus all creation is unique!

This stage is created after the initial ideas have been discussed and accepted. The concept is formalized through process models, COPs and SOPs based on the design specifications in the first stage.

“WHAT IS OUR MISSION?” That is a defined statement prior to business formation (Theme, idea, concept of operational goals).

Who does what?

How is it done?

What is the acceptable, common time to perform the task?

What is to be delivered and expected?

COPs

SOPs on server

Managers

Employee training

Corporate Social Responsibility

Stage three (2)

DELIVERY IS KEY

An idea that is delivered as promised is total success. Deviate from the mission and you will lose the game. All elements of the plan must be adhered to to succeed in the 1000 year business. Training and education is the only way to achieve that success. The “how to” is a must and only those capable are selected to perform their role. The role of each is an ingredient for success and the skills to achieve that success must be trained...therefore the process of staff selection, management, training are crucial to building the dream.

Based on the predecided ideas, plans, and preselected staff that fit the role - training, coaching and testing are done to fulfill the needs of the business objectives. The DELIVERY must MATCH what is being sold. Marketing, sales and promotional activities are then created around the concept to build brand awareness and to attract the targeted consumers. All training is based on the time tested aspects of top service establishments. Each role follows the best steps to achieve the goals of business.

What is the budget for training and advertising?

How will the advertising be divided up?

Who will handle the marketing activities?

What is the promotional campaign area, timing and implementation process?

Staff Training
Educating the local market
Attire
Advertising
Serving techniques
Wechat platform
Employee quizzes
Website

Brochures
Radio
Television

etc

Stage four (1)

BUILDING THE BRAND

After the conception and implementation of the idea into reality, management of the business is crucial to keep the organization of COPs and SOPs so as to build the brand or model. Marketing, sales and promotion of the concept create a desire in the mind of the consumer to come and keep coming back. Monitoring and assessment of the business is needed continuously to maintain and improve on the model. Feedback is the breakfast of champions. Listening is a forgotten skill...it's time to listen to
succeed. Controlling and managing the feedback must be part of the system for it to succeed. Building the reputation of quality and excellence requires skilled leaders, managers, staff and the tools to maintain it.

This stage depends on initial agreement, resources, situation and expectations of client. Each area is discussed and applied to the defined business model based on resources.

Feedback Management
Talent recruitment

Depends on operations

TBD

THE BUSINESS

The before mentioned stages are the only way to build a 1000 years successful operation, even if you only want a small, one man business. There are no shortcuts, copy paste systems, eat a pill, or any get rich quick methods in reality. You MUST work hard, plan, and build on an IDEA that has been conceived in the mind with others!

FRANCHISING

The ultimate business is franchising a finish brand/product that has a continuous income flow from B2B customers. The franchiser supplies most goods, brand, training, support, marketing and promotional assistance as long as the franchisee maintains brand agreement. Though one can never have total control, one should have the ability to keep the image of brand high. When the corporate model is fully functional and standards are set, a franchise model can be implemented and marketed.
