bitcoin since 2012, but that was for....fun ;) Altcoins and the general cryptoverse since 2014. One very modest loss in a hair-brained 2017 ICO was enough for me, thank the gods.
I totally agree that there's a mania going on around NFTs that will eventually have to correct, but the concept is here to stay. People want to buy art, it is amazing, but they really do. There's a joy of ownership that hits on a number of different levels. One, you're supporting the artist; Two, it proves you're a superfan giving you some social capital; three, it can increase in value as the artist hopefully develops and acquires new fans. Those youngbloods who really feel that this artist expresses something they connect with on a deeply emotional/spiritual/whatever, will want to own that piece of art that they can then express themselves with.
As for Street Fighter 2 cards and NBA Top Shot and shit like that, it's definitely a crap shoot, might just be late pandemic cabin fever meme fad.
But NFT art is definitely here to stay.
