Behold the ancient Greek god of the seas and oceans, and all things salty and delicious when fried! I remember once in a long car trip, trying in vain to remember this guys name, and i just couldn't remember it. It drove me so crazy, and no one else could remembered either. When i finally got home, i ran straight for my books, and i found it. I breathed a sigh of relief, because it just drove me that crazy not being able to remember the name of such a mighty being!
I can also remember as a kid, having a book of all the Greek gods, and thinking that they were about the coolest thing i had ever seen. Even if they were only pictures, and text, i was enthralled. Some of you might know that i have a very low opinion of religion, but i do LOVE a good myth. I especially love it when it stirs up my imagination! I am certain that the book in question is what got me started on the long road of interest in mythology, magic, and all things fantasy. If it wasn't that, it was movies, back in the early eighties. :D
I will never lose my interest in all things weird and mysterious, all things grandiose and fantastic, these things never lose their appeal. While others are content talking about sports and the weather, i want to talk about aliens, and gods, and angels, and demons, and unicorns and the cheshire cat!
Screw realism, give me fantasy!!!
