We have all heard of the possible trip to Mars that is in store for us some time in the future. But how much thought have we put into this? Is it actually viable? To this i must ask the question, why wouldn't it be? Of course at first it would be rocky, as brave pioneers set the foundation of a starter colony.
With time, things would become more developed, to the point where all the basics are in place. That would require the ability to sustain a renewable supply of food, and oxygen, and clean water, but eventually we would sort it out. Think about it though, what would follow in the days after the basics are in place? Would we install more creature comforts? Would we set up luxury apartments? Hmm, we will probably need more gardens! We would need lots and lots of gardens! Of course, with time, perhaps many generations down the line, the entire place could be a garden.
If humanity ever gets to the point where we have enough plants on Mars, then perhaps one day we could even have an atmosphere over there. Perhaps at that point we will have figured out how to regulate planetary temperatures, and have better control over the elements. There is simply no telling what humanity will be able to achieve in the distant future. That is of course, provided that we do not exterminate ourselves first. SO hey humanity, stop being destructive idiots so we can live long enough to colonize Mars. Your great great great great grandchildren will thank you.
