Greetings earth creatures! I wanted to share with you some stuff that totally rocks. Starting with these majestic stones lost somewhere in a suburban labyrinth. Are they not gorgeous? To think that they have been around on earth for many tons of years, are ridiculously old, and are now arranged to be all pretty like, just for your amusement.
Now these are a bit more like it. Monolithic, like the large uneven stones that were used to build so many ancient structures across the world. The ancients used to fit them together in some absurd process that is now lost to us, but let me say, they are magnificent! That sort of construction was called "monolithic", like Stonehenge for example. If you look into monolithic construction, you will find a wealth of interesting examples.
Ancient rocks have always seemed delightful to me. They have more history than we could ever possibly know! But I suppose the same could be said of anything really. After all, we are all made of elements that are far older than we are. In some ways, we could say that our bodies are composed of things that are billions of years old. Kinda humbling right?
The natural world is filled with these ancient treasures. I am sure that if you look around your hometown, you will stumble across some that date back to the Triassic era, or perhaps even further back. Some rocks right near your home have been on this earth since the very beginning of...rocks! Sorta makes you look at them in a whole new way huh?
I love these old relics of the ancient world, not enough to be a geologist or anything, but they are pretty cool. Sometimes when I see an old cool rock, I have to ask myself where it has been, all that it has seen, what one day it might become. One thing is absolutely certain, rocks totally rock! And yes i am aware that this was a terrible pun...
