So today we had another DIY photoshoot session of our lovely daughter to enter her into one of her school's contest in conjunction with the coming of our Malaysia Day this 16th September.
This is her wearing our traditional costume.
Brief explanation of our culture
Briefly speaking, our culture is called Kadazan which is one the culture here in Sabah, Borneo. We have our own language, custome, dances, foods and even laws. However, over the passing time, the culture is eventually modernized to suit with the modern lifestyle. We try our best to preserve the culture as it might be forgetten.
The theme of the contest is to wear traditional costume. Here, you can see my daughter is wearing the Kadazan costume called "Maludu". Usuallly, there are only worn by beauty peagent. But, now it is our pride to see her wearing one.
In the first photo of her, she actually poses one of the dance in our Kadazan culture called "Sumazau".
It is fun to see her mother is putting some make up for the photo session.
