If you do, then you know this disease has been passed on for centuries.

Meanwhile, if you have not heard of this story before, here is a short version from the main story.

The Monkey, The Ladder and The Banana

Two monkeys in a room saw a banana on top of a ladder. One of the monkey climbed the ladder trying to reach the banana. Unfortunately, halfway the ladder the monkey slipped, fell down and hurt itself. It got angry and left the room. However, before leaving, it told the other monkey not to climb the ladder to reach the banana because it will be dangerous. It then left the room passing down that message. Another new monkey entered the room. The new monkey saw the other monkey only stares at the banana and astonished. The new monkey then asked why it does not climb the ladder to reach for the banana. The monkey then answered it was not allowed to do so. Now, both the monkeys stared at the banana doing nothing. Hence, came another new monkey. The new third monkey then asked the same question and the same reply was given, "it was not allowed". The same answer was given whenever a new monkey enters the room.

What is the lesson learned from the story?

This story basically explained one of the most dangerous disease in a corporate organization and that is refusal to change or also known as resistance to change.

This problem has been addressed so many time from various researchers but it failed to being grasp by corporate personnel. This kind of thinking will lead to the organization stays stagnant and lacks of competitive advantage.

Please stop senioritism

The story of the monkey also promotes seniority in organization. I value seniors as an asset of the organization by taking into account the role they have played in thr company. I feel that this culture should stop. The reason is that, it will slowdown the progress of the organization in terms of positive change. This means that new faces or new staff or junior staff can also provide valuable feedback towards the development of the company.

Conclusion

The story teaches us that it is important for making positive changes in an organization. This will be significant towards the development of company. To be honest, I am currently facing this issue where they thought I am not worth it.

That's it and may God Bless you, thank you!
