I am preparing myself to give absolutely everything I have to this platform and work my "assets" off 24/7 for the next 2 months. I want to see if I can make it on this platform. I hope that I can...because I love it! I feel like I have something to contribute and I feel pride in being able to be a part of something that is incredible and still pretty new. As a teacher I have summer vacation starting in a few days and it is an excellent opportunity to learn, grow and really give it all I have got. However, it occurs to me as I finish two weeks of posts, curating and commenting that I have a few questions.
Is it too late? Or put another way have I already missed the boat?
I see, even from my limited time on steemit, that many, many, many others have been on steemit a lot longer than I have. Many have already established themselves with thousands of followers and have milllions of steem power at their disposal. Is it too late for someone who wants to be a part of the community to make it with hard work and tenacity? Can the dream still be realized?
Yesterday I saw a post go from $1 to $500 after one vote and I realized the huge disparity that exists in voting power even after the Hard Fork. Currently I think I can add 9-10 cents to a really good post. What I am concerned about is how much time I have before the doors are opened wide and celebrities start rolling in with someone they have hired to maintain their accounts.
Everytime I log in to steemit the very first thing I do is check the upper left hand corner for the word "beta" because something in me feels like I am racing against the clock. The beta verifies that I have another day to make my mark. Another day to establish myself in a community that is unlike all others I have been a part of. Another day to reinvest my earnings in steem power before the flood gates open and the Biebers (plus their entourage of fans) take over.
