This only applies really to the US, but I was watching one of my favorite people to watch on youtube craigslist hunter.
I sort of knew this before but he said you should charge $1.50/lb of an item, so you can be reasonably sure that you'll win some money when it's a short way to send the item and lose some when it's far away, but in the end it should even out if your selling enough volume.
I'm also looking at some shelves for my basement closet, probably will end up with metal ones that have the fiberboard shelves. The metal wire ones that you might find at costco/sams club/etc are too much money for the time being and I doubt I'd need that level of weight support.
Sold yet another low end item a calculator which at this point I was just trying to get out of my listed items.
