What Is Equilibrium?
Equilibrium is the name given to the upcoming hardfork that we are about to experience here on Hive tomorrow!

Equilibrium is a state of balance between multiple forces. In the case of the Hive blockchain network, the guiding mission from day one has been to create an ecosystem that allows anyone to become a part of our decentralized network, contribute to governance, and to own their data, connections, tokens and actions in a world where the current tech and social powers have an iron grip.
This hardfork continues to empower people to use Hive the way they want and takes another few large steps forward in creating an ecosystem with better balanced rules and tools for building whatever we can dream up. - Hive.io
What To Expect?
A quick summary of the major changes being implemented is that:
- There will be an adjustment to the voting rewards curve so it won't really matter when your vote is cast; this is meant to level the playing field between manual and bot voting.
- Adjustments to the HBD in order to maintain a more natural peg to the USD and allow for easier conversions from HIVE to HBD
- Recurring payments will now be enabled and open up the Hive ecosystem to the world of subscription payments
- Allow voting on already paid posts
- I have heard rumors that this hardfork will remove the need to power up Hive in order to post 'unlimited' times a day and instead implement a resource credit claim (I am not able to confirm this from the announcement post but I do believe it is the case)
- General bug fixes and site improvements
What Does This Mean?
I'm personally a big fan of this hardfork. It feels like things are getting easier to use, explain and build on. With implementations like subscriptions (i.e. recurring payments) there are now more use cases for Hive and we may see organizations that are seeking out a better alternative to big tech finding their way over to Hive without having to drastically change their business model. I really hope that we will see the end of the requirement to power up Hive as it democratizes the platform even further by making sure that everyone is able to participate from the very moment they claim their account; this also makes my job a lot easier as the leader of 
Hopefully this hardfork is a step in the right direction and we see it result in great growth for all of the tribes built on this ecosystem.
