Exhausted and hungry in the mountains we made a fire and heated up an onion soup and other vegetables.
"Look!" Said Michael. "It is the feather of a Carolina parakeet."
Michael was an ornithologist, he was looking for a bird believed to be extinct since 1939, however, a photograph taken three years ago by hikers showed that it still existed. We looked for the parakeet for months without results, but that feather gave us hope.
We kept looking and in a tree, we saw it. We took pictures and I thought our work was over, surprisingly Michael took out a pistol with darts and shot the bird hitting it in the wing, the parakeet fell to the ground.
Michael and I argued, he wanted to sell the bird, then he threatened me with a knife, we struggled and I knocked him down. I wanted the bird to be free, I took it and with the band of my sock I made a bandage to stop the bleeding; Then I ran away from the place saving the bird.
Months later I freed the bird in the place where I had saved it, hoping to one day see it again.
