Outing with Kari [Eng/Esp]

To arrange a meeting between friends is not an easy task, in fact it can be quite an odyssey, and if you have children still young, much more, because between your daily occupations, the children's activities and family commitments, and at home, it is really complicated to coincide, and if there are more than two people the challenge is even greater, but it turns out that one day the universe conspires in your favor, the planets align and without much planning this meeting takes place, which of course involves a cup of coffee.

Concretar un encuentro entre amigas no es tarea fácil, de hecho puede ser toda una odisea, y si tienes hijos aún pequeños, mucho más, porque entre tus ocupaciones diarias, las actividades de los chicos y los compromisos familiares, y en el hogar, es realmente complicado coincidir, y si son más de dos personas el reto es aún mayor, pero resulta que un día el universo conspira a tu favor, los planetas se alinean y sin mucho plan se da ese encuentro que por supuesto implica un cafecito.

With Karina, we have known each other for a long time, since we were co-workers for more than 17 years, besides our children studied together, and although she lives practically in front of my house we see each other very little, however we keep in touch via WhatsApp relatively often, in fact, less than a month ago we met for some paperwork at the Real Estate Registry since we are both lawyers, and since that day we were trying to meet to share some time together, but guess what? We had not been able to.

And the thing is that between her activities and mine we had not been able to coincide, until today that I wrote her to say hello because reviewing my messages, I realized that the last time we spoke by WhatsApp I left her talking alone, and in the middle of the conversation she asked me if I was free after 5:30 to go for a coffee at Bagette Bistró, a place near home, and as I had nothing to do I immediately said yes and we met without much plan beyond talking.

Con Karina, nos conocemos hace mucho tiempo, ya que fuimos compañeras de trabajo por más de 17 años, aparte nuestros hijos estudiaron juntos, y aunque vive prácticamente frente a mi casa nos vemos muy poco, sin embargo nos mantenemos en contacto vía WhatsApp con relativa frecuencia, de hecho, hace menos de un mes nos reunimos para unos trámites en el Registro Inmobiliario ya que ambas somos Abogadas, y desde ese día estábamos tratando de reunirnos para compartir un tiempo juntas, pero adivinen? No sé había podido.

Y es que entre sus actividades y las mías no habíamos podido coincidir, hasta hoy que le escribí para saludarla porque revisando mis mensajes, me di cuenta que la última vez que hablamos por WhatsApp la dejé hablando sola, y en medio de la conversación me preguntó si estaba desocupada después de las 5:30 para ir a tomar un café a Bagette Bistró, un local cerca de casa, y como no tenía nada por hacer de inmediato le dije que si y nos reunimos sin mucho plan más allá de conversar.

When I arrived Karina was already there, which surprised me because I always have to wait for her, and of course there was no shortage of jokes about this never-before-seen event 🤣.

We greeted each other and went straight to order a coffee with milk and a sweet to sit at ease to talk and catch up on our lives, and I tell you that the conversation was so good that it was 7:30 without even realizing it and we left almost running home because we already had dinner time ready, but no doubt we had a great time, disconnected a little from the stress of everyday life and enjoying a super tasty snack.

Al llegar ya Karina estaba en el lugar, cosa que me sorprendió porque siempre me toca esperar por ella, y por supuesto no faltaron las bromas sobre ese suceso nunca antes visto 🤣

Nos saludamos y fuimos directo a ordenar un café con leche y un dulcito para sentarnos a gusto a conversar y ponernos al día sobre nuestras vidas, y les cuento que la conversa estuvo tan buena que se nos dieron las 7:30 sin siquiera darnos cuenta y salimos casi corriendo a casa porque ya teníamos montada la hora de la cena, pero sin dudas que pasamos un momento bastante genial, desconectadas un poco del estrés del día a día y disfrutando de una merienda súper rica.
