If you're a fairly active gamer who has managed to play most of the latest AAA games and the top titles, then you surely know about the current state of "gaming", especially when it comes to the games on both PC and console platforms. I don't know about the rest, but I think in these past few years we've probably received the most consistent streak of dumpster fires in all of gaming history.
No optimization or maintenance, furiously power hungry and broken mechanics, these are just a number of issues from the huge list of hurdles one has to face. Whatever the genre may be, exploration, RPGs, FPS, BR, you name it, the list of problems are never-ending when it comes to the much latest titles, especially if the game provides an online multiplayer experience. People login to relax and to kill some time, but they end up stressing and raging instead.
BUT, and that's a big but, the main issue isn't in the game and the number of bugs it has, the problem starts with the people behind the scene and their ignorance. I really don't know who fits the criteria and gets to work behind the scenes for these popular games and projects these days, but something or someone is surely to blame for this botched up situation, for this lazy and "IDGAF" approach. Maintenance isn't even a thing these days it seems, it feels as if there's no one there to take care of the problems, and if there is someone, then they act as if they don't even give a F***.
Funny thing is, the gaming communities and groups are stronger than ever, the player base is more than prepared and willing to provide feedback to the people working behind the scenes.
Sadly, there's barely anyone on the receiving side it seems. It feels like you're being ghosted by that pretty little baddie on Snapchat, after chatting it up for 3 months straight, suddenly, you're not "chat worthy" anymore.
And since the companies got what they wanted in the first few months, a whole lot of moola that is, now they no longer want to cater to the player base.
Day by day as the big gaming studios turn into filthy money-worshipping cults, the player base and its love for a certain franchise keeps on fading away little by little. Soon enough, they won't be making any money at all, if this goes on, then this industry will undoubtedly derank from its current position.
As many of us know, in terms of revenue, currently the gaming industry is double the size when compared to both the cinema and the music industry combined.
And all the thanks goes to some hardworking people, who with all their creativity and hard work built such an empire. Now it feels as if everything is run by a bunch of rodents, rats that are just nibbling through all the success and the stash that's left behind. A greedy bunch who have no passion for the game, and no intention to work for the betterment of this industry and its fan base.
Yes, all of this surely doesn't apply to every studio and company out there, but it sure as hell applies for the majority, that's at least how I see it.
On the other hand, we have mobile and blockchain gaming, they do fall under the same "gaming industry", but it's a whole new world and a totally different ball game when it comes to these two new additions.
I'm not much of a mobile gamer, and I just recently got to know about blockchain gaming and its P2E features. But judging from the bit of knowledge I have, these two additions do look quite promising. Both these "sectors" have huge potential, and right now it's all about maintenance and the backing from the dev teams. If they remain consistent, and just keep innovating like they already are, then they just might succeed in toppling the current "big dogs" with ease.
I surely am rooting for it all, every damn side that fall under the gaming category, why pick just one side? A bit of healthy competition is quite necessary for a better "price" and experience for us consumers haha.
Till next time then, signing off for now.
