"I prefer buying new books to a pair of new shoes" - Zhalya Abiyeva
Well, of course, because I can at least get 4 to 5 books for the price of one decently-made shoe...
And shoes are more of a necessity, you need them for different occasions and seasons. Books, however, aren't quite "essential", but they should be. There's a book out there for everyone, and if you find that book, then you can never, not be an "avid" reader.
I don't know if I'm an avid reader or not, but I do like to read now and then, and I also like to participate in this little game of collecting books.
Right now I'm sitting with 18 books in my little collection. I started collecting physical copies about 2 years ago. Before that, it was just e-books on my little 5-inch phone. From this little collection of mine, I've managed to finish 4, and right now I'm halfway through the 5th one.
I don't have any reading routines, where I have a specific day or time set up for reading. If I have some free time, and if I feel like reading, then I'll just read.
It shouldn't forced, that just eliminates the "fun factor" of reading...
I think I've mentioned before, I have this odd habit of having to buy books every 3 to 4 months or so.
Usually around this time I just delve into the world of books, and book reviews, I search for relatable and likable genres and suggestions, and then I just decide to hit the big ole green BUY button. I don't hesitate when it comes to buying books. Even if I haven't read for a few months straight, sometimes I just like looking at the little stack of books placed in the right corner of my little cabinet.
I ordered these books last week and received them just yesterday. I don't know on which number I'll place them on my reading list, but we'll figure out something.
For now, I'm still enjoying the 48 Laws of Power By Robert Greene, and I'm certainly taking my time. I always do this when it comes to the good things in life. Whether it's a new movie and I'm waiting for a solid HD print to be available, a TV series that keeps me hooked, as I eagerly wait for the next episode to drop, or a beautiful single-player videogame that I just can't get enough of, and simply don't want it to end.
If you ever see me rushing things, then it probably doesn't mean a whole lot to me.

After I receive them, I go over the initial parts and presentation of the books.
The first impression a book has on you does matter. Whether it be the design or theme, lettering, or simply a quote or a message at the beginning of the book. I say it's a key addition, in keeping people attached and intrigued.
I have watched quite a lot of Jim Kwik's videos and interviews, and his teachings are quite interesting, it's unlike any other motivational guru or lifestyle coach. I don't know much about David Deida, but I have heard good things about his book, The Way of The Superior Man. I'll surely look for some of his online content and interviews, and maybe delve into the short-form content for a bit; albeit, I'm much of a fan of short-form content.
And as I take my leave, I'll leave by leaving a thought-striking quote that may leave you thinking...
Geddit?
"Unearned consciousness is valueless." - David Deida
