STUNNING COMMON JAY // A Truly Extraordinary Butterfly Discovery Worth Celebrating
Good night to all my beloved hive friends 鉂わ笍
Let me introduce you to a Common Jay butterfly, which belongs to the Papilionidae family. This butterfly has a relatively stable population in my area, but it is almost impossible to observe and admire its beauty because it is extremely active and very shy. This particular butterfly can fly incredibly fast and remain in the air for quite a long time. Getting close to it is very difficult because even from a distance of just three meters, it will immediately fly away. Usually, I can only admire its beauty while it is flying.
From what I know, this is a species of butterfly that is very active during the daytime, so it is no wonder that we often see it flying back and forth as if it has lost its way. And now, let's take a closer look at the beauty and intricate details of this butterfly together.
I managed to find this butterfly in the late afternoon, at around 6:30 pm, when it was perched on a bougainvillea flower in front of my house. As soon as I spotted it, I immediately felt quite happy and excited to capture its beauty. However, the late afternoon is not always the ideal time for photography because of the lack of light.
The first photo I managed to take turned out quite satisfying, although it did not capture many fine details. I tried photographing it from several different angles, and I succeeded, but I also ended up disturbing the butterfly. I was truly fascinated by the beauty of the shape and colors of its wings.
Its forewings have an elongated triangular shape with slightly blunt tips, although this feature becomes more noticeable when the butterfly spreads both of its wings. What makes it particularly fascinating is its deep black color, decorated with semi-transparent transverse bands ranging from light blue to bluish-green, along with a series of tiny spots along the outer edges of its wings. The blue colors are very striking, and that is what makes this butterfly look so beautiful. It has become the second most beautiful butterfly on my personal list.
Although it was already quite late in the afternoon, this butterfly still seemed very restless and wild. It flew away several times whenever I tried to photograph it.
If only I had managed to find this butterfly during the daytime, perhaps the photos I could have captured would have been much more beautiful and detailed. I might even have been able to photograph it using a macro lens, allowing every detail and structure of its body to be seen much more clearly.
However, this was a golden opportunity that might never come again, so I did not think too much about the results at that moment. What mattered most was that I had managed to capture its beauty as best as I possibly could.
