LITTLE GOLDEN GEM // A Stunning Golden Moth and the Extraordinary Beauty Hidden in Its Wings
Good night to all my beloved hive friends 鈾ワ笍
Introducing a golden moth from the Geometridae family. I managed to find this moth perched on a mango leaf in my garden. I don't know much about its population, but I haven't seen one for quite a long time, and this has become an extraordinary discovery for me. Besides the golden-colored ones, there are also pink varieties of this moth, which I have personally encountered before, but that was a very long time ago.
This moth is predominantly golden yellow, adorned with thin transverse lines, along with dark spots on both the outer and inner parts of its wings. These unique features are what make me so fascinated by it. No matter what, I had to find a way to capture its beauty through my photography.
I managed to capture the first photo from the front.
From the four photos above, we can clearly see the underside structure of this moth's body. It turns out that this moth has slender and relatively long legs, but what are they used for.?
It looks so majestic when perched. Its thorax and head appear so upright, creating some distance between its body and the tree branch beneath it. This also makes it easier for me to photograph and identify this insect.
This particular moth is very active during the daytime, but it is not as wild or restless as the Common Jay butterfly I photographed yesterday. Fortunately, I managed to photograph this moth using a macro lens, allowing every detail of its body anatomy to be seen quite clearly. Now, take a look at the four photos below, which showcase the beauty of this moth from above.
This moth has broad wings, and spreading them out while resting seems to be one of its usual habits. At first glance, the shape and color of its wings look quite similar to dry leaves, but they become very contrasting when it perches on fresh leaves.
Meanwhile, its antennae are shaped like long, fine threads that extend straight backward, following the direction of its body. Both antennae can also be easily moved in any direction it wants.
I managed to photograph this moth from various different angles, which gave me a sense of personal satisfaction. By using a variety of shooting angles, my macro photography results became more dynamic, artistic, and less monotonous, allowing the unique textures of its wings and other tiny body parts to be captured perfectly.
