Good night to all my beloved hive friends 鉂わ笍
Let me introduce you to a hoverfly from the family Syrphidae. This particular hoverfly looks very similar to a bee because it has the characteristic yellow-and-black stripes of a bee. However, despite its appearance resembling that of a predatory insect, hoverflies do not have stingers, cannot bite, and are completely harmless to humans.
Unfortunately, the population of this particular insect has become quite rare in my area, and I myself rarely come across one these days. This is truly my lucky day, as I managed to find so many unique insects, such as blue bees, yellow wasps, and sleeping moths ,and I will share all of them here gradually.
This hoverfly has an elongated and slender body. The most striking features are its broad head and its two large, prominent compound eyes on either side. Its wings are transparent, and it often folds both wings together when resting.
Now, let's talk about the unique colors of this hoverfly. Its body features a combination of orange and transverse black stripes across the upper part of its back. Its two compound eyes are black and appear to sparkle under the sunlight. However, if we look at it more closely, we can see a brownish color on its thorax and an orange color on its legs.
I photographed this hoverfly using a macro lens, allowing every detail to be seen quite clearly. The good news is that I managed to photograph it from several different angles, and now we can admire the beauty of its back.
Although it looks very cute and adorable, this particular hoverfly is incredibly fast and can fly at remarkable speeds. It also has the ability to hover in the air like a hummingbird. It can remain still in mid-air for a certain period before suddenly darting away at great speed. Hoverflies also play a fairly important role in nature. Adult hoverflies act as pollinators and frequently move from one flower to another. Besides having an appearance very similar to that of a bee, this hoverfly also has habits that resemble those of bees.
The closer we get, the more its beauty becomes visible and noticeable, every detail of its body looks truly extraordinary. This is the hidden beauty of nature that requires a little effort to see and admire.
I kept trying to photograph this hoverfly as best as I could, every effort will surely bring satisfying results.
