Here in Australia they spray blackberries as they are an imported weed, but jeez I remember them as a kid. Scratched arms and legs and purple mouths ..

When I lived in Somerset we would go blackberry picking and the dog would gingerly pick off the blackberries with her teeth, copying us.

She was rubbish at making crumble though.
