Ah that's interesting. I knew to use methylated spirits for the secateurs. They're fairly old trees and are small green apples - probably some type of Granny Smith. There's plenty of youtube out there to show how to prune but we do know some tricks. Funny it just came up on Gardening Australia, our awesome gardening show here.
