It's a good analogy. I also like the 'sheep track' one. Your habits are like sheep tracks over a hill - the grass disappears, and the path is clear and set. You can't change it easily - it takes a long time for the grass to grow back. Take many tracks, and it won't wear into a set path. Or choose the path wisely!
