Wow that's a great tip about the zucchini! I wonder if that was the same for my zucc. I did have a couple of weAk capsicums that didn't amount to much either. I'll double check my companions this year!
You are right, you are still learning, and every year will have revelations, successes and failures.
I grow lettuce that I just harvest the leaves as I need, and let some go to seed so I have seeds for next year (though we can grow lettuce all year round). Homegrown lettuce tastes better and is so much fresher! But you know that.
