Beautifully said. Do you think it's because we don't teach it to children? We don't set examples ourselves? That we aren't encouraged to self love, because self doubt, loathing, and anxiety helps sell the products that profess to 'fix' us? Sometimes I think the fact we're more and more secular that's the problem - not that I believe in a Christian god nor would I advocate for his 'return' but I think a good value/ethics education wouldn't go astray. Morality is now choosing self interest over others, it seems.
