'Syyyyysssteeemmms, I love syyyyssstemmmmms' 🎵🎶🎵🎶 Jamie's singing. Dickhead. He's made up a daft song as he tidies up. But we are totally crowing about all the new systems we have to make life easier,

It's been awhile since I've done a gardening post, mainly because my elbow has hurt so much that it's both hard to garden, type, and take pictures. If only I had fractured my left elbow instead. On the

This week, I'm staying away from knives. Why? My best mate, who I've been connected to since we met on the school bus at 11 years old and found commonality due to hairy legs and surfing Dads, sent me a

There's a strong south-easterly wind blowing as I start my walk from the Urquhart Bluff car park to Sunnymead Beach at the beginning of Aireys Inlet. The first section is an ascent, which I'm never that

Plus an update on my fractured elbow injury...

I finished Becky Chambers 'To Be Taught, If Fortunate' this week shortly after rewatching Interstellar, and the pairing turned out to be unexpectedly revealing. I loved the book, so much so I messaged

On Sunday we went out walking from our place into the heathland and national park which is only one block away from our street, up a slight hill. We are always looking for reasonably short works, say an

Our drive to work takes 40 minutes, and though people say that's a long commute, we don't mind - half of it is bush, there's only one set of traffic lights, and it's the road that takes us back to paradise.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about work, and what we’re all actually chasing. A friend of mine was recently made redundant after fifteen years with the same company. She's in her mid-50s, a time notoriously

Every week, we're going to post a challenge early in the week just to give you some writing inspiration. As the weeks go by, we'll also list previous weeks topics, so that if you missed one that you wanted

After reading @agmoore's and @azircon's post about investing wisely in property, I thought I'd add my own thoughts. Whilst I live in Australia, the general idea is the same - is your area prone to natural

There's a number of things that a zombie film does, apart from providing jump scares and satisfying people's need for horror. They can critique society, such as Dawn of the Dead where the characters hide

Jamie wanted to go away this week. It's a habit of ours to escape mundanity by getting on the open road. Pack the Defender, a few hoodies, some food, some firewood, and do a winter camp, preferably with

I'm looking at him like he's a stranger, like I don't understand how the curls at the nape of his neck are the handwriting of him, curlicues of familiarity. There are dark moons under his eyes, raven's

If you're a tourist headed down the Great Ocean Road, don't forget to save time for a waterfall and a bushwalk. The ocean of course is one thing, but most people forget or don't know that there's a whole

I don’t know why I do it. I’m standing at the edge of the ocean. It’s brisk and very cold — well, cold by southern Australian standards. A Victorian winter has started after a late warm spell stretching

On a rare coffee date, we share a croissant, stuffed with frangipani and crumbling almonds on the table, and our usual order - a large flat white and a small oat latte, although we rarely buy coffee out.

Would you rather do without legs, or one of your arms? After three years of hip issues (I've fixed them and I am pain free, finally!) I fell off my bike and hurt my elbow. Last week I got an MRI and we're

It’s quite disorientating, or perhaps weirdly orientating, being in Tasmania. If you open Google Maps, that little blue dot puts you as close to Antarctica as you’re ever likely to get unless you’ve got
