I'd been saving for nearly two years to buy a drone. Just as I got close to my goal, DJI released the Mavic 4 Mini Pro, so I had to save just a little bit more to buy it. I know the Mini 3 Pro is just as good but because I didn't plan buying another one in this life time, I thought I may as well get the latest!
I've never flown the drone before so I was a little intimidated. I watched a few videos and learnt what each button and control did, so finally when I could use it, I was ready.
Then I had to wait for a relatively wind less afternoon somewhere nice to fly it, so it was almost a month before we were on a short camping trip near Robe before I got it up in the air.
What you're looking at here is Lake George, which is part of the Beachport Conservation Park in Robe, South Australia. We were lucky enough to stay in private property so it was very secluded. Mind you, there was no one around anyway! Except for us, with a drone, of course.
Turns out these things virtually fly themselves - they have so many sensors that they won't crash into anything. There's also a return to home button so you don't need to fly it back.
I basically got it in the air and practiced flying and shooting in various directions, resulting in a few cool photos of where we were camped. Well, sorta - we couldn't quite see OUR car in the trees, but the tops of our friends cars.

I'm really excited about taking more artistic shots and am thrilled with what it can do already. It's going to be awesome to take on our travels to capture the landscape in fresh ways. It also gives you a whole new outlook on where you are.
Unfortunately it was far too windy to take it out in the sand dunes the next day, so I was back to my phone camera!
