This week I've had two Peakd posts go missing - one, a draft on Ted Lasso, that wholesome and idealistic comedy that I'm totally in love with, and a post about a bloody fabulous sunrise on the weekend. What the goodness sakes happened to them is anyone's guess - one was in the scheduled posts and it didn't go out nor did it go anywhere that I can see. Sigh. Given I don't want to write eitehr post again, I thought I'd do a garden/life update of sorts.

I'm busy today at home doing Jamie's citizenship application, involving more bureaucracy than anyone needs in their life, plus the census bollocks, which made me sigh yet again and how we are but a collection of data. I had to laugh that @holoz0r listed 'crying' under the duties he carries out in his main occupation, which I can utterly empathise with. However, I'm not at work today because I'm on the fourth day of a doozie of a cold, where I spent all day yesterday half asleep on the couch or watching zombie films and Ted Lasso, wavering between apocalyptic despair and happy hope for humanity.

It's about pissing down rain which is fabulous, and the kookaburras are feasting worms and grubs in the front garden as they come to the surface.

We've been to Bunnings and got a heap of compost, potting mix and seed raising mix. I've sorted out my seeds and chucked the out of date ones under a mesh in the chook coop for their fun once they - maybe - sprout. Spring must be coming as they are starting to lay eggs. Freeloaders, about time!

I've been sorting out what flower seeds I have and ordering some more for the bees - there's a lovely dark crimson scabiosa I have my eye on. It's still too early but seed planting excitement is in the air. A few flowers are going strong - borage and calendula of course - and the everlastings are beginning to flower. I always forget what I planted so they'll be a suprise when they do bloom.

I've been gifted some Hawaiian ginger but I don't know much about it - I can't establish whether or not it's edible or worth eating - would you know? I'm also planting some supermarket ginger. It's all worth the experiment - I don't even know whether it'll survive whoever looks after the house when we go away.

The cherry, who lost it's leaves first (which made me think it might have died) is also the first of the fruit trees to put out leaf. Yay.

Well, I'm going off for a doze on the couch.
