he smears a glass slide with soil
traps the living & watches them wiggle
she inhales the air after rain
and spreads her arms wide with joy

He fastens a weather station to a pole
maps data & checks charts
she presses a finger in the soil
declares it dry and drags the hose over

she cried when the cucumbers wilted
he checked the soil ph and made adjustments
she painted a rainbow on the gate
he talked about cultivars and mendel's peas

she made a tea from mugwort & he brewed compost to precise perfection

together they made a paradise

This is my creative response to the Hive Garden challenge. The topic this week is 'A Scientist and Poet in the Garden' and I chose to write a poem. I hope you like it. The challenge comes out every Sunday 6pm AEST and anyone can enter until the Thursday of the following week.
