I'm a teacher and I get paid pretty well in Australia. It's not a perfect institution and there is much that needs to be changed, but at least we get paid a decent wage. Looking at the US and UK though - wouldn't be a teacher there at all. Lots of UK teachers can't even make rent and feed families, especially single woman. It's a bloody hard job - harder than most people could possible imagine. So hard I'm taking a year off with my husband so I don't burn out completely. Yeah, taking it out of the military and improving a system that could actually support mental health and raise people up in many ways is not a bad investment I'd say @riverflows
