Here are some of my attempts to capture them. I try to get perfect shots without having to use post-editing. Maybe that is bad or lazy, but I like the idea of trying to capture the moment with the camera settings alone, constantly spinning the settings and snapping, with the chance of having perfect shots ruined by a miscalculation.
These are all taken by Lumix GH4. I mainly use it for video (such as this cool music video I produced about the rise of crypto-gods), and am only beginning to experiment with its photography capabilities.
This shot was purrrrfect. The cat wasn't too happy that I was disturbing her sleep, but it made her curl in slightly more, getting such a cute shot!
I like this shot, but the sun was too bright, and so the cat was squinting. There is an old drum and cymbal in the shot as well as a plant which adds to the framing of the cat.
I like the framing of this with the green and dead grass against the cat's white flufiness. Super cute! I wonder what she is thinking about...
He was super pissed. I have other shots were he is scowling at me from taking these pics while he was trying to sleep. But this one is the cutest! He likes to roll around and be super cute, but only when no one else is around to see, and also when there is no photographic evidence.
This one was experimenting with framing. I liked that the subject is at the top of the picture, framed with curtains and contrasting light to draw the eye.
This is another attmept at nice nature framing to show off the white cat. It kept moving making it difficult to snap, but this was the best. I got some almost better ones, but the cat was rubbing its face against a stick, and it looks like it accidentally poked itself in the face, rather than rubbing for love.
This one was post-edited to adjust contrast etc. Ideally I would like to do super cute gangster cat photography, maybe giving the cats fedoras and gun holsters, but that is something to build up to.
