I've been playing this game Series of Tubes which can be found here: https://seriesoftub.es/ and it's honestly pretty addictive.
It's a simple game of building a network, like in the real world. Gain customer, grow traffic, and just do what it takes to get to a Tier 1 network. Why do it in the real world when you can do it in a game right?
A few things from the game make it awesome for anyone with industry knowledge.
The name of the ISPs in the game are quite similar to real world networks. We have Level Tree(Level3 aka CenturyLink aka Lumen aka whatever it was before), Not That Telecom(NTT Nippon Telegraph and Telephone), Tell-Ya Carrier(Telia, now Arelion), and so on.
They do that with other stuff to, with the IX names being something that, NY-Yikes (NYIIX) which is run in the game by DE-KICKS (DECIX) and has some things like Comecast(Comcast), Faceplant(Facebook), Akamaybe(Akamai), and onward. For anyone who knows the networking industry, this is pretty hilarious.
It's also got a lot of real things. You have router failures like happen in the real world, fiber cuts, DDOS attacks, RPKI issues, BGP issues and so much more. The game itself is very simple and just about building your network up. I have mostly focused on playing it very slowly and just building up a few POPs(Point of Presences). But one of my friends has managed to complete it(alongside with others in the industry, I bet that there's been multiple thousands of productive hours lost to this game in the networking industry because of how fun this is).
This win is not mine ^.
I will be playing this slowly over time to get a win, but found it fun enough to share with others, and maybe it gets someone else interested in networking!
