I think this problem is not limited to cinema, it exists in the visual arts as well. Sometimes the visibility of a work of art depends more on the artist’s fame, publicity and sponsorship than on its actual artistic value. As an artist, I believe we should look beyond the big names and give independent artists a fair chance to introduce their work to an audience. Supporting lesser-known works can help us discover ideas and perspectives that mainstream culture often ignores. From my personal experience in my field; visual arts galleries and exhibitions charge a lot of money from artists to hold exhibitions and do not provide any support to those who are not affiliated. In the film industry, which is not my area of expertise, but you have pointed out this problem very well.
