Sadly even this dire warning fails to inform regarding the much bigger picture:

In 1984. O'Brien explained the actions of The Party as "power for power's sake", but in our new reality we could only wish that were the case. Why is travel forecast to be so restrictive (for the proles only, of course). Here's a hint: it's also related to the homogenizing of the world's food supply. And also to the extensive identification and biological coding of each individual prole.

The proles are the new lab monkeys. Monkeys are expensive, noisy and filthy. Besides, while various lab animals have many similarities to humans, we are at the point in research that even small differences matter. More data is necessary. Better data is necessary. Humans are the perfect "lab monkeys" for human research, and there's around 7.5B of them running around, available for the taking.

But, experiments require similar conditions. Movement must be restricted. Measurements of every possible detail must be made available. Food must be homogenized.

The earth is being turned into a giant research lab, and the proles are the monkeys. The only question is "for what purpose"? I'll let the reader decide that for oneself.
