Adolf Hitler wrote in the late 1920s that America was the one state making progress towards a healthy race order. Hitler applauded the US immigration law as something that will preserve the dominance of the "Nordic blood".

The American race-based immigration policy goes back to the Naturalization Act of 1790 which opened citizenship to any alien so long as they are white.
