Since the 1st January the Thai government has legalized the use of cannabis for medicinal purpose, the prime minister has announced that it was a gift of the new year for people of Thailand. For years the government and legislators were studying the law to legalize cannabis and create a huge industry from it. Since then the government has even opened a greenhouse of cannabis for the purpose of extending its research.

But already people who need the benefit of cannabis can register with a doctor or traditional herb doctor to get a recommendation letter than apply to the FDA, fill the form and bring with them the cannabis they own and in the case it is too big to bring (plant or big stash) just bring some pictures of your plants. The FDA will tell you of the day they will come to look at your garden if they found out it is too big to be for your personal uses they will size the crops but you will not be prosecuted for it.

Thailand has a worldwide reputation in the 70' and 80' for growing one of the best cannabis in the world called "Thai Stick and Buddha Grass" but after the pressure from the USA in the mid 70' the production has nearly come to a stop, excepted in some uncontrolled areas of the Golden Triangle but mostly from neighboring countries. I am sure Thailand will go to the top of this market in Asia as the farmers 'knowledge and the climate is a very good point and the government decision was voted in favor of legalization at more than 99% with only one blank vote.

Already Thailand has made a festival of cannabis supported by the politicians in the town of Buriram, the Pan-Ram 420 Festival a chance for the people to experience first hand the benefits of cannabis on economic, medicinal, and recreational aspects. Things are moving fast in Thailand and already the Philipines are about to do the same it can sound strange to see these two countries very conservative by nature taking the step of cannabis legalization but it just shows that they are clever and innovative in many ways.
