There is no clear reason to assume that any of this means anything... Perhaps we are all just screaming into the void! (Why not? The echo is insane!)

"Here's a short piece I wrote as a submission to an online lit journal back in 2021. I'm guessing, at this point, that it was rejected by the journal, although I never heard back from them to confirm this! I've waited long enough, though. Here's the story!
“The Curse of 5-7-5 (A Collage in ABA Form)” by Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)
24 Nov. 2021
“Negative milkshake
Impossibly hot posture
The melting of time”
The droid, which had been broken for longer than anyone could remember, wandered the city reciting nonsense haikus at anyone who would listen (and to a majority that wouldn’t.) One man, a baker who specialized in pumpernickel breads, became so frustrated by the constant poetic assault that he attempted to murder the bot by driving his car into it. Unfortunately, the man had misjudged the density of the droid, and instead of plowing through the pile of metal and fizzing circuits, his vehicle came to a sudden stop on impact. Consequently, he went flying through the windshield and found himself impaled on a fire-hydrant mere meters from his own bakery. (The paramedics on the scene said it was the third most gruesome death by fire-hydrant they had ever witnessed. The old timers within earshot all nodded, solemnly.)
The droid, slightly taken aback by the incident, spouted a string of binary numbers for 666 minutes (exactly), before rebooting and returning to his poetry spewing ways.
So goes life in Henpeck, Washington, in the northwestern United States...the new(est) Wild West on the market. It hadn’t always been this way, but unfortunately, the last person alive (who remembered the BEFORE times) was 101 years old, deaf as a frozen neanderthal, and never asked in writing about what life had been like in the area when she was a child.
Lost opportunities for preserving the past abound.
In other news:
It was December the 6th, 1841, when Adam Ball was born for the third time. The occurrence was not his idea, and he was not particularly pleased with the situation. (Interestingly, his sister, Zelda, who was born five years later, was the GRANDMOTHER of the elderly woman mentioned above! What a coincidence!)
Upon being ejected from the womb, Adam cried for three weeks straight, without stop, and on the 27th of the month, he was finally able to slip out of his new body (without being forced back in again.) He was buried under a hand-carved, wooden grave-marker that has now been completely consumed by the elements. (Can you tell I’m omniscient? It’s pretty cool, sometimes…)
For nearly 150 years, Adam retained his freedom from physicality, until July 6th, 1991, when he was repackaged and reappeared, this time as “Jessica,” in an odd and haunted town called Yakima, Washington. (Perhaps I’ll tell you about some of the more interesting of the Yakima ghosts…someday.) “Jessica” (who was usually “Adam”) felt much more comfortable with this incarnation and had many adventures, which I’m sure you all recall.
Back in Henpeck: (Let’s call this ACT THREE!)
“Ashes burned their feet
Constantly reminding them
Of their fascist pasts,” said the droid, to no one and everyone. A bartender, sick of the constant syllabic barrage and relatively new in town, threw his apron onto the floor of the half-outdoor pub, Shankleberry’s Grill and Sit-Space, and headed angrily towards his economical, low emissions-producing, fiberglass automobile.
“I’ll call the ambulance,” sighed Sophia, the owner of the flower shop next door to the pub, as the bartender lined the droid up between the headlights of his vehicle and revved the engine…
