What do you feel when you wear dark glasses? Do you feel the Power?
I'm Ricardo Mello, I'm 26 years old. Today I will share part of my experience with music and also how and, most importantly, why I created my musical alter-ego.
Music has always been for me an inspiration, fun and one of the best ways to digest time.
When I turned 18 I had my first electric guitar, at that time I went to several concerts with my cousins, Green Day, Judas Priest, Apocalyptica, Caramelos de Cianuro and several others; Also, the girl I liked at the time, Mariana, plays the drums, so you can imagine my great motivation to become a guitar master.
Live music is never just about the sounds, people will see, live, push, jump and the musician is an active part of everything that happens in the place. A part of this job invites us to act and move on the stage, and without all the energy, dances, lights and set design the experience in the concerts would be very different, and sometimes the artist has to look for a strategy to eliminate shyness or nerves in order to transmit good vibes.
I had thought of some kind of mask, like the "Box Head" of Party Rock, but then I came up with something simpler and more subtle, the sunglasses.
When a person puts on dark glasses there are many factors that change, for example, others can not see their eyes, in what direction they are seeing or if they are closed or open, it is a protection, like a force field.
The best example I saw in the movie "Big Daddy", when Sonny gives his glasses to little Julian and tells him that they are magical, so when he puts them on he will become invisible. (I leave the link here is very nice scene)
Well yes, in conclusion my rockstar alter ego with glasses, is both an extension of myself, as an strategy to neutralize my shyness and increase my confidence, when it comes to appear in public or in front of the camera helps me to live music with more serenity and fun.
