So, today we ate going to stripp the eggs out of the female catfish and fertilize it with the sperm from the male catfish..

This process can be completed in few minutes.
Before now we have removed the male sperm sack successfuly and the female has already been injected with the spawning hormone 10hrs ago, also the spawning net is in place on the hatching pond, so we are now reading to stripped the eggs and fertilize with the male sperm..

For this process we will need an additional clean dry bowl and a spoon or spatula which will be used to mix the eggs and the sperm together..

First the injected female will brought out of the isolation pond and kept in a clean dry bowl..
A wet towel should be placed on its head to cover the eyes, this should keep it still for stripping.

The process of stripping will require two persons , one to hold the head and press the eggs out, the other to hold the tail still from shaking ..

After all the eggs have been stripped into the bowl the male sperm will be incorporated with it and mixed well, but unfortunately, our eggs are not fully matured,..
A fully matured eggs are suppose to be dark green but ours is whitish which shows the eggs are not fully matured ..

But we will still carryout the process to see if any of the eggs might hatch.

When all the eggs have been stripped we will now mix the Milt (male sperm) with the eggs for fertilization.

The male sperm will be cut open with a razor blade to remove the Milt's into the bowl containing the female eggs.

The sperm will be rinsed thoroughly with the saline solution to make it lighter a to mix well.

The eggs and the milts will be mixed thoroughly ,so the eggs and the sperm will bind well for fertilization..

The mixing shouldn't take more than 2-3min,
The eggs should be sprayed in the hatching pond for proper fertilization.

It should be sprayed thinly on the hatching net and it should be done quickly.

After spraying the eggs on the net, the fertilization process have been completed, now the pond will be covered with a zinc and allowed to stay...

The flow through process will start after 6hrs then after 36hrs the hatching net will be removed to avoid pollution of the water,
