Welcome to the 2019 Marching Band Season for the Rustin Golden Knights Marching Band

Hi Everyone,

Tonight was the first pre-season performance of the 2019-2020 school year for the Rustin Golden Knights Marching Band, so it's time to reactivate this account.

To refresh your memory, this is an experimental (and unofficial) fundraising account that's operated by @remlaps and @cmp2020. Since this is @cmp2020's last year of high school, this will also be the last year of operation for the @rgkmb-unofficial account. At the end of the marching band season, the account will be completely powered down, and all funds will be donated to the marching band. I (@remlaps) have also reserved the @rgkmb account to be claimed by the band boosters, if they so desire, for use after @cmp2020 graduates.

With the punishing Steem price decline last year, we managed to turn $124.342 in posting rewards into somewhat less, but it was still a contribution to a great cause! We'd love to make this year an extraordinary fund-raising year so the marching band is persuaded to stick around in years to come.

So without further ado, on to the subject matter of this post.

2019 Pre-season performance

The kids have been working hard to prepare their show during last week's band camp, and additional rehearsals this week, and tonight they showed the parents what they've accomplished. Because of the heat, the performance was inside in the school auditorium. Here are some photos I took from the audience. As usual, sorry for the cell phone photo quality. It's even a little worse this time because I forgot my glasses, so I couldn't even see what I had in frame. ; -)

I did get an actual camera, with a hardware zoom lens, so hopefully my photos at the football games and other performances will be a bit better this year.

Football Schedule

(all games at 7:00pm)

Last year, Rustin's football team made it all the way to the Pennsylvania state quarter-finals, when they lost a heart-breaker to Upper Dublin and finished the season ranked somewhere in the state's top-50 teams - I forget the exact rank now. A lot of talented players graduated last year, but of course, we're hoping for another successful season this year! Here is the schedule:

  • 8/23 - AWAY @ Sun Valley
  • 8/30 - HOME vs Great Valley
  • 9/6 - HOME vs Kennett
  • 9/13 - AWAY @ Oxford
  • 9/20 - HOME vs Avon Grove
  • 9/27 - HOME vs Coatesville
  • 10/11 - HOMECOMING vs Unionville
  • 10/18 - HOME vs WC East
  • 10/25 - HOME vs WC Henderson
  • PLAYOFFS - 11/1 and 11/8

Thanks for your support!
