I am not sure what was going on yesterday but I just couldn't complete the quest without getting beaten again and again. Very strange pairing but today, the elo matching seems to be working properly again.
Even though it was the same quest, I had a much easier time today and I think I only had one loss on it. What a difference a day makes, eh? So I am now at the lower bound of Bronze I. With 1 week of the season left to play, I am tempted to rent an Alric already.
Rewards was just one potion and I am looking forward to getting a pack so that I can use the potions that are accumulating. That's another benefit of promoting early to Silver as you become eligible for the pack rewards in the chests.
