So I put my Hyundai in for a service and MOT today and I'm impressed with the work-flow they've got going on.....
First off I got an email reminder two days before during which I could confirm/ check-in and then I also got a call the day before (so yesterday) reminding me - NICE!
I got the feeling the woman and the service check-in was used to everything going smoothly - so I made sure I had all the prerequisites in place before hand - car cleaned of any crap (if not clean), locking wheel nuts and service logbook on passenger seat as requested and my UK lights (which I wanted fitted) in the vehicle too.
And that all went smoothly.
I got a text message straight away with the progress report which updated throughout the day depending on what stage it was at...
'Vehicle Health Check' at first and then a little inspection video (link via a second text) outlining what was OK and what wasn't OK...
And for the items which required attention I could automatically select the ones I wanted attended to, organised into red for immediate and amber for could be sorted but not essential...
I actually just clicked everything that was red and amber as the overall cost was still half what I'd planned for - basically one set of brakes and tyres rather than all of them, so happy days, and the suspensions were OK too which was something I'd been slightly concerned about given the abuse the car got on various Portuguese tracks over the last four years.
I've got to hand it to Hyundai cars for their durability - I mean 44K miles near enough and only one and a half tyre changes and one set of breaks changed in all that time, besides the oil being done twice and the AC filter cleaned for the first time this round!
I got a call at around 17.05 to say that everything had been done, MOT passed and the total bill came to around £600 which was fine given the amount of work that had to be done and that I'd budgeted for £1000, not that I'll feel it for a while as it's going straight on the credit card...
The only thing left at this stage is for the service wash....
At time of writing I've decided I'm going to let them keep it overnight and head over to collect it at around 11.00 a.m. tomorrow, it's just a lot easier for me as I can now just walk to my GF's house and crash there.
Now the car's fully ready for re-importation to the UK... the next step is to just do some form filling, yay!
Nice!
