Having spent the first 1% of 2023 recovering from 2022 it's about time I looked forward to this year and thought through WTF I actually want to do with this year!

It's not an easy one to predict going forwards... I'm still in a bit of a liminal zone renting in the SE and I may or may not move back to Hereford next year, I may or may not do a van conversion, and I may or may not buy some land in Wales...

There's many variables that make all of the above major living-situation type goals uncertain, but that's O.K. as there are plenty of other things I want to do this year which I can basically do where ever I'm living!

My focus areas for 2023 are...

  1. Improving My main blog
  2. Getting back into running/ yoga/ tai chi/ meditation
  3. Learning more about Crypto/ Hive posts
  4. Re-skilling for Prospective future Employability
  5. Reading more, watching/ listening to more films and podcasts
  6. Just getting out and having more fun
  7. Doing a van conversion
  8. LAND research and eventual purchase.

Roughly in that order...7 and 8 are probably realistically more longer term goals, so 2024 and beyond.

Improving the main blog....

Given that it's my main income source thanks to my recent uptick in advertising revenue, this has to be my primary focus, treating this like a regular job with regular hours - keeping existing content up to date and adding new content.

It is also something of a labour of love, it is my baby, after all!

Running and mental health

I've been uber-slack with this kind of stuff the last six months, so time to stop using 'transitioning to a new country' as an excuse and get back to three runs a week, a daily sit, a few yoga sessions and week and even some tai chi - I might even seek out a class for the later!

Hive and Crypto

Hive is going to stay part of my life going forwards, but I want to refocus posts so they are more about crypto and the relationship between that, development and opportunity, the social consequences of crypto!

Re-skilling

There's a reasonable chance I may need to get another job before my pension kicks in, I do have 12 years to go on that after all!

I'm thinking something in the realms of data analysis and data science, focussing on social science - I'm half way there already, it's just a matter of finding a more focussed niche!

Reading more

I want to READ a lot more in 2023 - I've got enough books on the shelf to be able to do this for free, and also I need to track down some decent sociological podcasts.

I need a reading list!

I recently found that the British Film Institute has hundreds of excellent films available for a tiny yearly subscription - that's a relief, lots of decent films to indulge in.

This is one of my more enjoyable goals!

More Fun

I don't really know how to have fun - I don't know - cinema, walks, that's a start! Learning more stuff, maybe>?

Van and Land

These are dependent on having a bit more liquid wealth than I have right now - but I really fancy doing a van conversion, but I want £10K for that - I want my van to last me a decade, so none of this 180K miles on the clock bullshit.

And I want some land, but that's probably not a 2023 goal given the level of investment required, but I can start stacking and planning for what I want in the years to come

2023 is going to be online mostly!

I think 2023 is gonna be fairly virtual - most of my focus is gonna be building virtual shit rather than IRL shit, and I'm happy with that, but my longer term goals are definitely to get back to the land.

Once the van is up and running I'm not ruling out living communally on some kind of permaculture project or projects, that could work out nicely if I find the right bunch of peoples.

But for now, my focus is in the virtual world, for probably most of the coming year.

Funny how things work out!
