Well it's now late October and the last couple of weeks have been all about the ButterNut squash.
I think I've done pretty well over all:
This was the squash patch about 10 days back, back in sunnier times! You can see some of them just under the leaves!
And closer up...
And I picked a couple this weekend just gone:
That gives you an idea of the scale.
I've only got three this size in total, and then another three smaller ones.
But that is A LOT of squash for one person.
I mean one of these bad boys will keep me in squash for a week! I'm thinking maybe cut half a one up into chunks, and it's a couple of roast dinners and some soup,
And that'll keep me going to the end of the year, no problem at all!
The squash are my biggest win of the year hands down on the plot, taking up half a bed and well worth it, and requiring almost no effort!
I may even do a whole bed next year, with a greater variety, but for now it's time to enjoy some of this year's harvest, for sure!
